Based on the Editorial Freelancers Association’s standard rates (except substantive editing). Ask about student rates.

Note: Standard Manuscript Format (“ms pages”). The industry standard for a manuscript pages is 250 words per page. In general, a document with standard manuscript format will have the following features: 8.5″×11″, with double-spacing, 12 point font, and margins of 1” or greater.

COMMUNICATION RATES

I encourage communication by either email or phone. The same rates apply as for projects, except for initial free consultation. Brief communications are also free.

EDITING DEFINITIONS

Research. Finding information to support the writing of a work or to verify information already supplied.

Content Editing. The terms substantive editors, content editors, and line editors are often used interchangeably for significant changes to a manuscript, such as rewriting and reorganizing the text. Includes written feedback on the structure and idea of the project.

Copy Editing. After the structure and content are in good shape, copyediting ensures correct spelling, grammar, usage, and punctuation, checks cross-references, and ensures consistency and accuracy across the manuscript. When I review the work for an estimate, I’ll tell you whether the work requires “heavier” treatment.

Proofreading. Final read-through for submission-ready project. Will check the text for errors, including typographical errors.

WEBSITE WRITING, GRAPHICS, AND EDITING

Experienced in Squarespace and WordPress. I can edit and integrate text and digital media, including images, graphics, and video, on platforms not requiring HTML.

I can work with you to identify an appropriate event design for your needs, as appropriate creating from scratch, or borrowing other contemporary or historical models.

We can work together to develop the design and produce the event. I can act as a consultant or have a hands-on role.

Price is based on scope of services and is negotiable.
